| Shunde District, Foshan, Guangdong is located in the center of the Pearl River Delta, bordering Guangzhou to the north and close to Hong Kong and Macau, with an area of 806 square kilometers. As most of the land is alluvial plaint, the district is a full of intersecting rivers, with the moderate climate and plentiful rainfall all the year round. Shunde was first established as a county in 1452 (Ming dynasty), as a county in March 1992 and then as a district of Foshan city from January 2003. The district governs 10 towns (sub-districts), 108 administrative villages and 89 residential communities, with a registered population of 1.14 million, a floating population of 860,000 and over 400,000 fellow townsmen residing in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas. |
