In 2005, the Shunde Government planned the Donghai Development Coordination Zone in Xingtan and Jun’an Towns, enabling Shunde’s economy to extend to the rapidly growing west Pearl River Delta (including Zhaoqing and Jiangmen). The Donghai Development Coordination Zone will interact and coordinate with the Foshan Central Group and surrounding cities.

Zone A of the Park |
Zone C of the Park is located in the southeast of Xingtan Town, being a priority of the next stage of development and construction identified by the Shunde District Government and the area to be first started in the Donghai Development Coordination Zone. It borders the Donghai Watercourse on the south, the Ronggui Watercourse on the east and the Shunde Branch Stream on the north, with a total planning area of 25 square kilometers, in which an industrial plot of 2,120 mu has been developed and the first-stage development area is 5,200 mu. Class-I hi-tech enterprises encouraged by the Shunde District Government for development will be introduced mainly.
Zone C is to be based on the theme of a “new ecological park” in the Pearl River Delta with focus on high and new-tech industries, designed to promote park-city interaction and the coordinated development of secondary and tertiary industries. Therefore, the land use plan of Zone C carries through the “harmonious city” planning philosophy. The industrial plot to be put into use in the first stage borders Foshan’s Urban Express Road on the west and the Gaofu Road on the north, and is planned as a hi-tech R&D base, medium-size hi-tech industrial development zone and incubator of small enterprises.
Zone C boasts an excellent logistic environment. It is run through by the focus of Shunde’s traffic construction – Shunde Express Line and the south extension line of Foshan’s First Ring Road. The Liaogeshan Logistic Harbor Area under planning is just 13 kilometers west of Zone C via the south section of the Shunde Express Line (Gaofu Road). The harbor area will be designed into a large cargo port berthing 3,000-5,000 ton vessels, with a design annual throughput of 6 million tons. The harbor area is in the vicinity of the Qijiao Bridge, Xingtan Town upstream the branch of the Xijiang River, and is a hub planned in Shunde District and one of the key ports to be newly built in Foshan’s port layout plan.
The Shunde Cargo Port in Ronggui Town is 10 kilometers east of Zone C through the Gaozan Bridge. The Shunde Cargo Port has been open to navigation for 19 years, with a dock area of 130,000 square meters, a berthing line of 636 meters and an annual throughput of 3 million tons and 800,000 TEU, berthing 3,000-ton vessels all the year round. There are over 10 container and bulk vessels to and from Hong Kong, and many import/export direct barges to and from Shenzhen every day, and many regular inland barges to and from Shanghai, Tianjin, Dalian and other domestic ports. |
